The Cycle starts
The Cycle Starts
At the start of 2020 I was working as a part-time performer, part-time retail worker. I was a month away from handing in my notice at my retail job and working full time as Liz Fairnell - Performer.
But as we know 2020 had other ideas...

In March 2020 all my performance work was cancelled, I was put on furlough, moved back in with my parents, and the world stopped.
After weeks of filling my time with nothing, I started loosing my mind. So I took a leaf out of my little sister's book and applied to one of the only industries still hiring. Care. Within a week of calling asking for a job, I was trained and about to go out on my first shift.
My world changed all over again, as my eyes were opened to the world of domestic care.
The clients I met will always have a place in my heart, so many bold unforgettable characters.

A young adult female is crouched next to the chair with her hands on the arm of the chair looking at the chair. She is wearing a burgundy carer's uniform, black trousers, with her brown shoulder length curly hair tied in a half-up half-down style.
Other carers, many had been in the industry for years, were so emotionally strong. To care enough to do the job, but not care so much that when a client dies you can't continue to work.
I couldn't not be inspired by the experiences and stories I had.
.
On a whim I had applied to a BA Hons in Physical Theatre and Circus art at Circomedia, in January 2020, in June 2020 I found out I was accepted on the course. As part of the course I needed to make a 15-20 minuet performance piece, my 'Final Major Project' (essentially a dissertation). I spent the summer of 2020 getting ready to go back to University and thinking about what to do for my 'Final Major Project'.
Thus The Cycle was born.
